30 Weeks

Baby Center says baby Sloane is as big as a head of cabbage this week, What to Expect says she's a butternut squash - are those things the same size? In any event, she weighs about 3 lbs. This does not seem like all that much until you consider the physical space being taken over in my chest cavity and all the other fluids and tissues she needs to grow about 5 more lbs before we meet her.

Here are some tidbits I learned from my various pregnancy books and iphone apps:

"Your growing uterus compresses your lungs, limiting your lungs ability to fully expand. This makes you feel like you've run a marathon when you've just climbed one flight of stairs."

Survival rate for babies born at this stage is 95% however the rate of serious complications is still 25%

So far I have gained 21.8 lbs - the books say this is right on target.
